Behind a Red Smile
Happiness, innocence, laughter.
Tears, faded smiles, silence.
In the brightness of the day, they see my beauty —
In the darkness of the night, you can see my soul —
I look so happy in these designer clothes.
Cheerful call from a friend who can’t detect the pain behind my red smile.
I’m left all alone. You always appear to take off my mask.
Your touch softens my fears.
Me, as darkness, will always stay to make you shine brighter.
And you, my moonlight, will always light up the darkest of times, and saddest of smiles.
